Wortley Road construction project begins Monday to improve water, sewer, and road infrastructure

The Wortley Road construction project is scheduled to start on Monday, May 3, 2021.

As part of this project, crews will upgrade underground water and sewer infrastructure, and will reconstruct the sidewalks, road surface, curbs, and gutters in the area.

Wortley Road between Briscoe Street East and Devonshire Avenue will be closed to vehicle traffic beginning Monday until construction is completed in the fall later this year.

Pedestrian access will be maintained for residents and visitors to access homes and businesses in the area.

The Wortley Road construction project is one of London’s Top 10 construction projects this year identified in the City’s Renew London construction program. It will make important improvements to the area’s water and sewer infrastructure where much of the current infrastructure has reached the end of its lifecycle and is made of outdated materials.

At this time, essential municipal infrastructure construction is permitted by the Province of Ontario. Health and safety are paramount when undertaking any construction project, and the City will continue to ensure staff and crews follow current COVID-19 protocols.

Motorists are advised to check if their commute is impacted, and to plan ahead by using the Waze app.
