Repairs to Walter J. Blackburn Memorial Fountain retaining wall begin Tuesday

Starting Tuesday, November 10, weather permitting, the City will begin scheduled maintenance repairs to the retaining wall in front of the Walter J. Blackburn Memorial Fountain at the Forks of the Thames.

During the repair work, the north-south section of the Thames Valley Parkway (TVP) traveling under the Queens Avenue Bridge and Kensington Bridge will be temporarily closed until mid-December.

The east-west section of the TVP parallel to Riverside Drive will remain open.

Signage has been added directing pedestrians and cyclists to use adjacent pathways on the TVP to cross Riverside Drive.

The retaining wall will be carefully removed and reconstructed with improved design features to ensure it remains in place and protects the fountain, the concrete plaza and the TVP. The fountain will remain off during construction.
