Periodic lane restrictions: Queens Avenue west of Richmond Street

Periodic lane restrictions are currently in place on Queens Avenue between Richmond Street and Ridout Street North, and Ridout Street North from Fullarton Street to King Street for installation of permanent traffic signals and streetlights, landscape work, asphalt, concrete and other finishing touches for the Downtown Loop Phase 2 project.

Queens Avenue and Ridout Street North will be open with lane restrictions and delays until approximately mid-summer.

Motorists travelling westbound on Queens Avenue will continue to have access to through the area to reach their destinations and exit downtown to the west.

Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible and are advised to expect delays and plan ahead by using navigation apps such as Waze and Google Maps. Warning signs will be installed to help guide traffic around the work.

Queens Avenue between Wellington Street and Richmond Street is currently closed for construction of the Downtown Loop Phase 2. Destinations in the Clarence to Richmond block can be accessed via Richmond Street, as a temporary two-way traffic configuration is in place to support local access to parking, businesses and properties in this area. Signage has been installed to notify drivers about the road closures and restrictions.

Sidewalk access will be maintained through the area. Pedestrians are advised to follow wayfinding signage to navigate the construction zones safely.

Cyclists are encouraged to use Dundas Place where connections to the Dundas Bikeway and Dundas-TVP are available for east-west cycling through the core.

All businesses remain open and accessible during construction.
