Overnight Road Closure: Oxford Street between Wharncliffe Road and Richmond Street

Beginning on Wednesday, May 4 at midnight, Oxford Street will be closed between Wharncliffe Road and Richmond Street to allow CP Rail to make necessary repairs to the railway bridge in the area. The road is expected to be fully closed between midnight and 8 am, and reopen during the day between 8 am and midnight.  The overnight closure is expected to reoccur on May 5 and 6 during the same hours.

During this time, a signed detour will be in effect for motorists. East and westbound vehicles travelling on Oxford Street will be detoured around the closure via Richmond Street, Windermere Road and Wharncliffe Road.

Closures and restrictions will also be in effect for the Thames Valley Parkway approaching Oxford Street.  Cyclists and pedestrians using the Thames Valley Parkway are encouraged to use St. James Street to Talbot Street to Ann Street to avoid this closure and reach their destination.

Temporary sidewalk closures will be in place on Oxford Street and pedestrians walking through the area are encouraged to use Blackfriars Bridge via Argyle Street, Blackfriars Street, Albert Street and Talbot Street.  Signs will be installed to advise pedestrians of the restrictions.

Access will be maintained to local businesses and residences while CP Rail completes this work.

Motorists are advised to check if their commute is impacted, and to plan ahead by using navigation tools such as Waze and Google Maps.

Transit users are advised to visit the LTC website for service updates and detours.
