Lane restrictions on Oxford Street East at Quebec Street starting Monday, August 14

Starting Monday, August 14, lane restrictions will be in place on Oxford Street East through the Quebec Street intersection for approximately six weeks for underground infrastructure work as part of the Quebec Street Infrastructure Renewal Project.

Drivers can expect delays through the area and are advised to use alternative routes where possible. To help keep traffic moving as smoothly as possible, drivers are encouraged to fill both lanes to the point where the lane closure begins, and then “zipper merge” into the open lane.

Pedestrian access will be maintained on at least one side of the intersection while this work is underway.

About the Quebec Street Infrastructure Renewal Project

The City of London is reconstructing Quebec Street from Oxford Street East to the CPKC (formerly Canadian Pacific) rail line to replace aging infrastructure that has met its expected lifecycle. The project includes replacement of watermain, sanitary sewer and storm sewer, as well as the addition of new cycling infrastructure.

Work is anticipated to last until fall 2023 with some minor clean-up work and asphalt paving in spring 2024. To learn more about this and other 2023 top 10 projects, visit London.ca/topten
