Lane Closures: Hyde Park Road and Oxford Street West during Multi-Faith March to End Hatred

Beginning at 6 p.m. this evening, southbound lanes of Hyde Park Road, between South Carriage Road and Oxford Street West, and eastbound lanes of Oxford Street West, between Hyde Park Road and Wharncliffe Road North will be closed to motorists.

These lane closures are in place for the safety of those participating in the Multi-Faith March to End Hatred. The restrictions are expected to remain in place until approximately 10 p.m.

The westbound lanes of Oxford Street and northbound lanes of Hyde Park Road will remain open however motorists can expect delays in the area. Motorists should avoid the area and find an alternate route until the roads re-open. Consider downloading the Waze app for assistance in planning an alternate route.

Our priority is public safety for all taking part. As COVID-19 remains an ongoing threat in our community, we are encouraging anyone who intends to participate in the march to also follow the health precautions that are in place, including physical distancing, wearing masks, frequent hand washing and hand sanitizing, and to consider staying home if they are experiencing any COVID-19 like symptoms.

As well, participants are reminded to dress appropriately for the warm weather and potential thunderstorms, wear proper footwear for walking, and to bring water as the temperatures are expected to remain warm into the evening. Emergency responders will be available at the march for those that need medical assistance or feel unwell. Those needing medical attention should move to the sidewalk and request medical attention of emergency responders.

Transit riders are advised to check the LTC detour information to see if their route is impacted.
