City of London pausing Neighbourhood Ice Rink Program

Following further review of Provincial State of Emergency regulations and the Stay-at-Home Order, the City of London is pausing the Neighbourhood Ice Rink Program beginning today, Thursday, January 14. Volunteer and neighbourhood groups who have submitted an application for a neighbourhood ice rink will receive direct notification about this change and will not be able to proceed with building their ice rink at this time.

In addition to the Stay-at-Home Order, Provincial orders also limit outdoor gatherings to no more than 5 people and local heath guidance is to gather with only members of your own household. As a result, the City has made the decision to pause the neighbourhood ice rink program to ensure the health, safety and well-being of the neighbourhoods and the community.

The City recognizes the importance of the neighbourhood ice rink program to neighbourhoods across London and we know Londoners are disappointed by this difficult decision. The City continues to work with the Middlesex-London Health Unit to adapt and modify recreation opportunities to meet health measures that ensure the safety of all participants and we look forward to being able to offer this program when it is safe to do so.

Londoners looking for opportunities for outdoor exercise can continue to explore parks and trails across the city, or walk around their neighbourhoods, maintaining a safe physical distance of at least two metres apart from others and wearing a face covering when that is not possible.
