City of London asking residents to stay off all bodies of water

With warmer temperatures and rain expected over the weekend, the City of London is asking residents to stay clear and off of all bodies of water, including stormwater management ponds.

The London area could experience positive temperatures this weekend and approximately 5mm – 10mm of rain making any ice cover weak and unstable. Banks adjacent to rivers and creeks are very slippery and, when combined with cold, fast-moving water, pose a serious hazard.

Parents are encouraged to keep their children and pets away from all watercourses and off of frozen water bodies.
