City of London announces reopening of East Lions Community Centre

The East Lions Community Centre will reopen for scheduled recreation programming on Wednesday, March 1.

On Friday, February 25, a portion of the canopy soffit outside of East Lions Community Centre came loose and fell to the ground. Over the weekend, City staff responded quickly to secure the building, clean up the area, and assess and repair the damage.

Structural engineers were dispatched to the site and following their assessment, it was determined that the building can safely reopen to the public and users can enter and exit the building from all entrances.

Engineers will perform a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the collapse, identify repair specifications and estimate repair costs.

We thank the community for their patience as staff have been working to reopen the facility.

Recreation program registration is available through Play Your Way online or by calling 519-661-5575. Visit the City’s programs, courses and registration webpage to learn more.
