File: Line of Sight - The City of London is undertaking a review and considering potential changes to a number of its policies and regulations to develop a municipal approach and mitigation measures that will address adverse impacts of certain mid and high-rise buildings that negatively impact the City’s Emergency Communication System. The Municipal Emergency Communications (Radio) System relies on microwave backhaul and established “Lines of Sight” to function. Certain development may block or impair emergency radio system signals and result in a loss of the transmission or reception. Possible amendments to the City’s Official Plan – The London Plan, the Z.-1 Zoning By-law, the Site Plan Control By-law and/or the creation of a new by-law, will also be considered. Notice of Public Participation Meeting – Meeting of the Community and Protective Services Committee – on October 4, 2022, not to be heard before 4:05 PM, City Hall, Council Chambers, 300 Dufferin Avenue.  The Community and Protective Services Committee will be holding a Public Participation Meeting to receive delegations and their comments regarding draft by-law amendments to delete the Adult Live Entertainment Parlour location at 2010 Dundas Street (Map 3) - and to reduce the total number of Adult Live Entertainment Parlour Licences from three (3) to two (2).  Information regarding the above-noted matter is posted on the City of London’s website at www.london.ca.  Written submissions regarding this matter to be included on the Community and Protective Services Committee Added Agenda for the meeting should be submitted by no later than 9:00 a.m. on Monday, October 3, 2022 either delivered or mailed to the City Clerk’s Office, Room 308, 300 Dufferin Ave P.O. Notice of Public Information Centre for 2023 Rapid Transit Construction: Wellington Gateway Phase 1, East London Link Phase 2 and Downtown Loop Phase 3.  The City of London is hosting a virtual Public Information Centre (PIC) and two-week consultation period from September 23 – October 7, to share the near-final designs for the following rapid transit projects planned for construction in 2023:

  • Wellington Gateway Phase 1 (Wellington Street from York Street to north of Thames River)
  • East London Link Phase 2 (King Street from Lyle and Ontario Street; Ontario Street from King to Dundas Street; Dundas Street from Ontario to Egerton Street)
  • Downtown Loop Phase 3 (Wellington Street from Queens Avenue to York Street)

Notice of Virtual Public Meeting for Mobility Master Plan 

The City of London is hosting a virtual public meeting on Thursday, September 29, 2022, from 7-8:30 pm to share an update on the Mobility Master Plan currently in development. The meeting will include information about: 

  • What the Mobility Master plan is 
  • Local transportation trends 
  • Feedback received from the community to date 
  • Future improvement opportunities

Viewers will be able to submit questions and ideas to City staff throughout the presentation. Questions will also be accepted in advance by emailing mmp@london.ca. 

No registration required. The presentation will be recorded, include closed captions and American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation. 

Public consultation for the Mobility Master Plan is ongoing. Visit getinvolved.london.ca/mobility-master-plan for the link to join the live webinar, view a recording of presentation, access the online feedback form or get more information about the study.

Eldon House

Eldon House is a community museum dedicated to the preservation, presentation and interpretation of London Ontario’s “oldest home,” through the lens of four generations of the Harris Family.  Eldon House has a commitment to acquiring, conserving, researching, interpreting, promoting and exhibiting material culture that best illustrates the history of Eldon House and London, the Harris family, and the people who worked in the house from the period of 1834–1959.  The heritage resources of Eldon House are held in the public trust and aim to provide meaningful and enriching engagement, serving a diverse audience of visitors.  As well as education and research, the Museum interprets and promotes local, regional and national history.

London Police Services Board


The London Police Services Board (LPSB) guides the direction of policing in London. The LPSB also:
 

  • Approves the hiring and termination of employees;
  • Guides the creation of business plans and monitors their progress;
  • Recruits and appoints the Chief and Deputy Chiefs of Police;
  • Determines the objectives and priorities of our police service;
  • Participates in the bargaining process with the London Police Association.

London Public Library Board

An individual appointed to the Library Board must be:

  • a Canadian citizen
  • at least 18 years old
  • a resident of London
  • not employed by the Library Board or the Municipality

Along with the governance, legal and fiscal roles, Library Board Trustees are expected to advocate for the Library, establishing the organization as an essential community service and critical infrastructure.  The Library seeks a Board that reflects the demographics of the community and supports the Library’s Purpose and Values through their experience and expertise.
