PUBLIC PARTICIPATION MEETING PROCESS

Anyone wishing to speak at a Public Participation Meeting can do so virtually using Zoom online or phone, or by attending in person. City Hall is currently open to the public for public participation meetings. If you wish to attend in person to speak to a matter that is on an agenda you are encouraged to pre-register by email or phone; however, should you wish to attend virtually, pre-registration is required.  To pre-register, please email PPMClerks@london.ca or call 519-661-2489, ext. 7100.  Please note that some Elected Officials may attend the meetings virtually.

If you wish to be notified of a decision of the Committee of Adjustment, you must appear in person or by Counsel at the hearing and file a written request with the Secretary-Treasurer of the Committee of Adjustment.  An appeal from a decision of the Committee of Adjustment to the Ontario Land Tribunal shall be filed within 20 days of making the decision. If a person or public body that files an appeal of a decision of the City of London Consent Authority in respect of the proposed consent does not make written submissions to the Consent Authority, before it gives or refuses to give a provisional consent, the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) may dismiss the appeal. NOTICES

Notice to Owners of Heritage Designated Properties - Heritage property owners are reminded to contact a Heritage Planner when considering changes to their property. Heritage Alteration Permit approval may be required to make changes to an individually designated property, or a property located within one of London’s seven Heritage Conservation District. There is no fee for a Heritage Alteration Permit. Please contact one of the City’s Heritage Planners, Planning and Development 519-930-3500, heritage@london.ca.

London Endowment Fund for Heritage –The London Endowment Fund for Heritage, administered by the London Community Foundation, is accepting applications for grants. Grants are available for Archaeological Heritage, Architectural Heritage, Cultural Landscapes, Movable Heritage, and Natural Heritage. The deadline for grant applications is March 28, 2023. Applications are available through the London Community Foundation www.lcf.on.ca.

Kensington Bridge - Municipal Class Environmental Assessment - Public Information Centre #2 - The City of London is completing a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) study to identify, evaluate and determine the best long-term rehabilitation or replacement alternative solution and design concept for Kensington Bridge. The bridge is located at the Forks of the Thames carrying two lanes of east bound traffic into Downtown London on Riverside Drive.

A virtual Public Information Centre (PIC) is scheduled for Thursday, March 02, 2023, starting at 6:00 pm.  The PIC will be presented using the Zoom Webinar Platform. You must register for the PIC on the City of London Website at: getinvolved.london.ca/kensingtonbridge. The purpose of PIC No. 2 is to provide a summary of the public and agency feedback received during the study and the Preliminary Preferred Design Concept, which includes the proposed rehabilitation, and various improvements to how pedestrian, cyclist, and other users should be accommodated along the corridor. BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS VACANCY - City Council is seeking applications from individuals interested in being considered for appointment to fill one (1) vacancy on the London Police Services Board.

The London Police Services Board meet the third Thursday of the month for a full day.  In addition, approximately 4-6 hours of reading material is required prior to the meeting.

Some of the responsibilities of the London Police Services Board are:

•           Guides the direction of policing in London

•           Approves the hiring and termination of employees

•           Guides the creation of business plans and monitors their progress

•           Recruits and appoints the Chief and Deputy Chiefs of Police

•           Determines the objectives and priorities of our police service

•           Participates in the bargaining process with the London Police Association

Residents of the City of London who are at interested in being considered for an appointment are asked to obtain, complete and submit by no later than Monday, March 20, 2023 at 9:00 a.m., an application form that is available on the City’s website at London.ca/boards-commissions; or by telephoning 519-661-2489 ext. 4599.
