3810-3814 Colonel Talbot Road – The purpose and effect of this zoning change is to facilitate the development of 105, 2-storey townhouses and a 6-storey apartment building with 55 apartment dwelling units at a density of 44 units per hectare. Possible amendment to The Southwest Area Plan to ADD a Specific Area Policy to permit an apartment building with a maximum height of 6-storeys. Possible change to the Zoning By-law Z.-1 FROM an Urban Reserve (UR3) Zone TO a Special Provision Residential R6 (R6-5(_)) Zone. 375 Wharncliffe Road South – The purpose and effect of this zoning change expand the range of uses on the subject lands. Possible change to Zoning By-law Z.-1 FROM a Restricted Service Commercial (RSC2/RSC4) Zone TO add an additional uses to include Retail Stores, Bakeries, Clinics Medical/Dental, Laboratories, Private Clubs, and Restaurant (with drive-through) as additional permitted uses. Special provisions include a change of lot depth to permit a depth of 57m where a minimum of 60m is required, an exterior side yard setback of 7.7m where 8.0m is required, a rear yard depth of 4.2m where 7.5m is required, a lot coverage of 36% where 30% is required, a landscape open space of 0% where a minimum of 15% is required, and a parking setback from the Ultimate Road Allowance of 0.0m. To permit a minimum separation distance of 22.2m in the north interior side yard for the proposed drive-through whereas 30.0m is the minimum required separation distance for a drive-through.

NOTICE OF BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS VACANCY – City Council is seeking applications from individuals interested in being considered for appointment to fill one (1) vacancy on the London and Middlesex Community Housing (LMCH) Board of Directors.

Individuals applying to fill the vacancy should represent a range of relevant expertise including the following:

  • Knowledge of the field of social housing, including the legislative and regulatory environment governing social housing
  • Finance
  • Planning

NOTICE OF COMPLETION  Kensington Bridge Municipal Class Environmental Assessment – The City of London has completed the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment study to identify, evaluate and determine the best long-term rehabilitation or replacement alternative solution and design concept for the Kensington. The Environmental Assessment study recommends rehabilitation of the bridge with an arrangement that accommodates motorists, pedestrians and cyclists.  The proposed works are sensitive to the cultural heritage value of the bridge, while extending the functional service life of the bridge by 50 years. This study was completed following the ‘Schedule C’ process of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (2000, as amended in 2007, 2011 and 2015).

An Environmental Study Report has been prepared and a copy will be placed on public record on January 8, 2024 for thirty (30) calendar days. The Environmental Study Report can be reviewed by members of the public and/or any other interested party on the City of London’s Get Involved website. A hard copy will be available for review at the London Public Library – Central Branch – 251 Dundas Street, during regular hours and at the City of London Clerk’s office 3rd floor (300 Dufferin Avenue) during regular hours of operation.

Interested persons are encouraged to review the document and provide comments to the City of London by February 7, 2024.

Under Section 16 of the Environmental Assessment Act a request to the Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks for an order to require the City to undertake a higher level of assessment may only be made on the grounds that the order may prevent, mitigate or remedy adverse impacts on the existing Aboriginal or Treaty rights of an Indigenous community.  Requests under Section 16 can be made to:

Special inspections on holidays  –  can be conducted based on staff availability. A holiday special inspection, up to max 3 hours, excluding fire protection inspection, flat fee is $687.92. A holiday special inspection, up to max 3 hours, for fire protection systems, flat fee is $859.88. The holiday inspection requests and required fees need to be submitted no later than December 15, 2023.

Life Stabilization – Ontario Works

Offices are open on December 27 and 28 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on December 29 from 8:30 a.m. to noon.

Online applications for Ontario Works can be accessed 24/7 at https://saapply.mcss.gov.on.ca.

Case status and cheque information for ongoing Ontario Works clients:

Ontario Works clients can access information about their case by calling the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) System at 1-800-808-2268. The IVR system is available 24/7.

Victoria Park ice rink - open daily (weather permitting) from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The rink is closed for ice resurfacing from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. daily.  Note: To check whether the ice rink is closed due to weather conditions, please call 519-661-4529.
