Local not-for-profits and organizations encouraged to apply for 2023 Innovation and Capital Grants

The City of London invites local not-for-profits and organizations to apply for the 2023 Innovation and Capital grants through the London Community Grants Program. Applications are being accepted until March 31, 2023, at 4:30 p.m.

These grants are intended to support local organizations in expanding their programs, services or facilities that support Londoners. A total of $496,000 is available for Innovation and Capital projects this year. As part of the program, the City will direct a minimum of 25% of these grant funds to projects that support anti-racism, anti-oppression and equity and inclusion.

About the Grants

Innovation grants are provided to new, emerging organizations and/or initiatives that engage in dynamic community partnerships, innovative improvements to service delivery and system collaboration and/or generate new ideas.

Capital grants are provided for projects that involve construction or the purchase of physical assets, including, but not limited to, land, building and associated renovation costs.

All grant applications are assessed based on their alignment with the City’s Strategic Plan or Council-directed emerging priorities, a demonstrated need for the project in the community, the cost and effectiveness of the project and the project’s contribution to the quality of life in the community.

Organizations that are not registered not-for-profits can still apply by partnering with a host organization.

“The City is committed to supporting local not-for-profits and organizations to enable them to provide much needed services to the community,” says Cheryl Smith, Deputy City Manager, Neighbourhood and Community-Wide Services. “These grants support the valuable work our local not-for-profits and organizations do to enhance the quality of life for Londoners. It is always incredible to see the diversity of projects that receive funding through our London Community Grants Program.”

The City funded four Innovation projects and six Capital projects in 2022, with 39% of the total budget allocated toward projects that the Community Review Panel agreed advance anti-Black racism, anti-Indigenous racism, anti-oppression, diversity, inclusion and equity.
