TVP restrictions under Wenige Bridge at Highbury Avenue

This week marks the beginning of construction on the Wenige Expressway Bridge located on Highbury Avenue, south of Hamilton Road.

For the duration of the construction season, until late November, the width of the Thames Valley Parkway (TVP) along the south branch of the Thames River will be reduced under the Wenige Expressway Bridge at Highbury Avenue. Users are reminded to be alert and obey construction signage and the direction of the workers on site. Cyclists are reminded to dismount and walk through this area.

Highbury Avenue is currently fully open to traffic but some lane restrictions will be introduced in the coming weeks as work on the bridge is initiated.

Work on the Wenige Expressway Bridge/Highbury Avenue Rehabilitation project follows Council’s approval of seven contracts for critical infrastructure work and the Government of Ontario’s confirmation that construction projects that are either required to ensure safe and reliable operations or provide new capacity in critical infrastructure remain an essential service. The City of London in partnership with its consultants and contractors will be closely monitoring construction site conditions to ensure projects are compliant with COVID-19 measures recommended by local, provincial and federal health officials.
