City of London – What’s Open and Closed this Family Day

Family Day is Monday, February 17 and the City of London has fun activities for you and your loved ones to take part in. Skate, swim and be active together at one of our community centres:

Carling Heights Optimist Community Centre will be hosting a morning of family fun, with activities including:

  • free pancake breakfast from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.
  • craft activities for the kids from 8:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
  • family pickleball from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m.
  • family sports drop-in from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m.
  • basketball drop-in from 11:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.
  • pickleball drop-in from 11:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

Free Family Day open gym sessions are taking place at South London Community Centre from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Rent a pair of skates at the North London Optimist Community Centre during their roller skating hours from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m.

Free Outdoor Ice Skating

Grab your skates and enjoy free outdoor skating at Victoria Park Ice Skating from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. and the Rotary Rink at Covent Garden Market from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. (weather permitting).

Rental skates are available at Victoria Park for $7.00.

Recreational Swims

Canada Games Aquatic Centre - open until 3 p.m. with regular programs.  Additional recreational swim from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.

 Carling Heights Optimist Community Centre - open only for recreational swim 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm

 South London Community Pool – open only for recreational swim 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

No swim lessons scheduled on Monday, February 17.

City of London Office Closures

In recognition of the Family Day holiday, City of London offices/facilities will be closed:

  • City Hall, 300 Dufferin Avenue
  • City of London offices at 355 Wellington Street, 2nd floor (Citi Plaza)
    • Neighbourhood, Children and Fire Services
    • Parks and Recreation
    • Housing and Social Services (Ontario Works)
  • Environmental and Parks Planning, 267 Dundas Street
  • Housing Access Centre, 379 Dundas Street, Suite 116
  • Planning Division, 204/206 Dundas Street
  • Courts Administration, Provincial Offences Office, 824 Dundas Street
    (Parking fine payments can be placed in the drop box located on the east side of the main entrance.)

The following Community Centres will be closed:

  • Boyle Memorial Community Centre
  • Byron Optimist Community Centre
  • Hamilton Road Seniors’ Centre & Community Centre
  • Kinsmen Recreation Centre (arena is open, community centre is closed)
  • Kiwanis Seniors’ Community Centre
  • Springbank Gardens Community Centre
  • Stronach Community Recreation Centre (arena is open, community centre is closed)
