The City is reconstructing Wortley Road from Briscoe Street East to Devonshire Avenue to replace and improve the quality and reliability of water, sewer, and road infrastructure. Much of the current infrastructure is made from outdated materials such as vitrified clay and ductile iron and has reached the end of its lifecycle.

Construction started in May 2021 and is anticipated to last until spring/summer 2022.

The Wortley Road project is one of London’s Top 10 construction projects this year identified in the City’s Renew London construction program.

The work

Streetscape elements to be replaced include:

• sidewalks, concrete curbs, and gutters
• asphalt road surface

Vital underground infrastructure upgrades include:

• replacement of the watermain and water services to the property line
• replacement of sanitary and storm sewers
• partial replacement of existing sewer private drain connections

Advance construction

Ahead of this project, the City will complete the following work:

• six trees will be removed with five of the six trees being removed due to poor health.
