Applications for 2022 Municipal Election workers are now being accepted.

Workers are needed for Voting Day, October 24th.

We are hiring for the following positions:
 

  • Deputy Returning Officers
  • Registration Officers
  • Tabulator Operators

Applicant requirements include:

  • 18 years or older
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Cannot be a candidate, related to a candidate, campaigning for a candidate or providing an endorsement signature to a candidate running in the October 24, 2022, Municipal Election
  • Must attend a mandatory in-person training session at City Hall.

Job Descriptions

Deputy Returning Officer (DRO): The DRO issues ballots and instructs voters how to mark their ballots, administers oaths, signs off on documentation. Picks up and delivers supplies prior to and on Voting Day. Required to attend a two-hour in person training session at City Hall.

Tabulator Operator: Duties include assisting with the opening and closing of the ballot box and vote tabulator, feeding elector ballots into the vote tabulator, security of the vote tabulator, responding to elector inquiries. Picks up and delivers supplies prior to and on Voting Day. Required to attend a two-hour in person training session at City Hall.

Registration Officer: Duties include requesting and verifying voter ID, striking voter’s name off the Voters’ List, informing the DRO the correct ballot to issue, assisting with adding/correcting voters to the Voters’ List, and responding to voter inquiries. Required to attend a two-hour in person training session at City Hall.

Payment Rates

All positions will be paid $300 total .

Training Sessions

If you application is successful, you will receive next steps with training dates and more information via the email you provided on your application. Training sessions will be held at City Hall in September and October, are 2 hours long, and are available in the morning, afternoon and evening.

Hours on Voting Day

Polls open at 10 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.

Election workers will be required to be available from 9 a.m. until ballots are returned on Voting Day (Monday, October 24, 2022).
