In alignment with Step One of the Roadmap to Reopen, the City of London has reopened a number of City facilities for in-person services and programs.
The intersection of Oxford Street West and Gideon Drive has seen an increase in traffic volume in recent years, because of development growth, including the recent extension of Kains Road. With further growth anticipated in the area, the intersection no longer has the capacity to accommodate current and future traffic demand.
This environmental assessment (“EA”) will look at solutions to improve the safety of the intersection, while also considering future growth and demand.
Options that are being explored include, but are not limited to:
As part of this study, the project team will also look at upgrading and replacing underground services such as storm and sanitary sewers and watermains.
The project team is preparing to mail a Notice of Commencement to residents, nearby business owners, First Nations and interested stakeholders. This will formally indicate the start of the EA.
A Public Information Centre is planned for summer 2021.

The project team will hold a PIC meeting in which they will present some of the options that are being explored as solutions for this intersection. This is an opportunity for interested parties to provide feedback on the EA and ask any questions to the project team.
The input provided will be critical to shaping the final recommendations of the EA study.
