City providing alternative aquatics opportunities to Londoners impacted by Thames Pool and Glen Cairn Pool closures

The City of London is offering Londoners impacted by the closure of Thames Pool and Glen Cairn Pool with free recreation swim passes and free scheduled bus rides to South London Community Pool for recreation swim sessions.

Those who wish to take advantage of these opportunities will be required to follow all aquatics supervision policies. All children aged 12 and under must be under the supervision of a person aged 13 or older at all times.

Free swim passes

Free recreation swim passes are available to those impacted by the closure of Thames Pool and Glen Cairn Pool. These passes can be used at any City of London pool from Friday, July 1 to Sunday, September 4. Those impacted by outdoor pool closures can call 519-661-5575 or email recreation@london.ca to receive a pass, which can be picked up at any City of London aquatics facility. These passes allow users to receive 10 free recreation swim sessions. Passes can be reloaded free of charge by calling 519-661-5575 or emailing recreation@london.ca.

Those who purchased a swim pass for Thames Pool or Glen Cairn Pool in 2021 will be contacted by City staff informing them of this opportunity.

Bus rides

Starting Monday, July 4, the City will offer free scheduled bus rides from Glen Cairn Pool and Tecumseh Public School to South London Community Pool for recreation swim sessions taking place on Mondays and Fridays from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Please note the bus will run on the Civic holiday,  August 1, 2022.

These bus rides will be available until August 26, 2022. 

Glen Cairn Pool bus rides – Those living in the Glen Cairn neighbourhood can visit the Glen Cairn Pool parking lot located at 370 Chippendale Crescent on Mondays and Fridays at 1:20 p.m. to be picked up for recreation swim sessions at South London Community Pool. At 3:30 p.m., the bus will board all users at South London Community Pool to return to the parking lot.

Tecumseh Public School bus rides – Those living in the Downtown and South London neighbourhoods can visit the Tecumseh Public School parking lot located at 401 Tecumseh Avenue East on Mondays and Fridays at 1 p.m. to be picked up for recreation swim sessions at South London Community Pool. At 3:30 p.m., the bus will board all users at South London Community Pool to return to the parking lot.
