The City invites Londoners to its recreation job fair on Tuesday, January 30 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Carling Heights Optimist Community Centre, where City staff will share information and host on-site interviews for spring and summer job openings.

Actively Hiring

Aquatics Instructor/Lifeguard

As part of a team, instructor/lifeguards provide safe, enjoyable aquatic experiences for Londoners. In this position, you will be actively involved in programming taking place in the facility, including but not limited to swim lessons, facility rentals and drop-in recreational programming. You will also promote public water safety education and participate in drowning prevention initiatives. 

Aquatic Attendant

Reporting to the on-site Pool Manager, Assistant Pool Manager, or Deck Supervisor, the Aquatic Attendant is responsible for ensuring a safe and enjoyable aquatic experience for Londoners. This casual position works as part of a team in a public facing fast paced aquatic environment to promote public water safety, involved in drowning prevention events and assists with swim lessons while providing excellent customer service to Londoners.

Building Attendant

Reporting to the onsite supervisor/coordinator, the Building Attendant position is responsible for ensuring a safe and clean, and functional operation inside and outside the facility. This casual position works as part of a team in a public facing fast paced environment assisting with set up and take down of programs and activities including moving equipment, cleaning, and maintaining the facility, and providing excellent customer service to City of London patrons.

Community Connector (Arabic Speaking)

Reporting to the Manager, Neighbourhood Development and Support, the Community Connector will help improve outreach and engagement efforts with communities historically underrepresented in the civic process and decisions that impact their community. This casual position works as part of a team in the community and supports the development and implementation of the Neighbourhood Decision Making program and other projects across the City of London. For this position, you will need to have written and oral fluency in English and Arabic.  

Community Connector (Indigenous)

We are looking to hire an Indigenous Community Connector with knowledge of the experiences of Indigenous peoples in London. Reporting to the Manager, Neighbourhood Development and Support, the Indigenous Community Connector will help improve outreach and engagement efforts with communities historically underrepresented in the civic process and decisions that impact their community. This casual position works as part of a team in the community and supports the development and implementation of the Neighbourhood Decision Making program and other projects across the City of London.

Day Camp Coordinator

In this position, you will coordinate, administer and supervise the Day Camp programs at specific program site(s). Other responsibilities include supervising the activities at program locations to ensure the care, safety and security of employees and participants; supervising, coaching, scheduling and evaluating Day Camp staff; planning, developing, and implementing program activities and special events for children ages four to 12 in accordance with Child and Youth Agenda priority areas; and communicating with parents/caregivers of participants daily.

Day Camp Counsellor

In this position, you will be responsible for leading a Day Camp, Playground, Junior Camp, or Inclusion Camp program at a specific site and for appropriate supervision of the program participants. Some responsibilities include supervising the activities at a particular program location to ensure the care, safety and security of program participants during program hours; planning and implementing a variety of recreational programs involving crafts, active and quiet games, sports and special events for children ages four to 12, in accordance with Child and Youth Agenda priority areas; and maintaining daily records of attendance, program activities, and safety checks.

Day Camp Playleader

In this position, you will be responsible for leading the Playground program at a specific site(s) and for appropriate supervision of the Playground participants. In addition, the Senior Playleader will be expected to take on added communication, discipline and planning activities. Some responsibilities include supervising the activities at a particular program location to ensure the care, safety and security of Playground participants during program hours; planning and implementing a variety of recreational programs involving crafts, active and quiet games, sports and special events for children ages six to 12, in accordance with Child and Youth Agenda priority areas; and maintaining daily records of attendance, program activities, and safety checks.

Day Camp Designated Inclusion Support (1:1) Counsellor

In this role, you will work with Day Camp staff to adapt the Day Camp program to include campers of all abilities and needs; assist in the delivery and adaptation of program activities and special events in accordance with Child and Youth Agenda priority areas; support the delivery of the Camps on TRACKS peer-mediated social skills program; and monitor facility accommodations as per activity and safety needs. You will also be required to provide personal camper care assistance as needed (feeding, toileting, changing, administering medication, etc.).

Facility Coordinators

Reporting to a Recreation Supervisor, the Facility Coordinator assists with coordinating activities at community and seniors’ centres across the city. This casual position works as part of a team in a public facing fast paced environment opening and closing the facility, completing facility maintenance, and providing excellent customer service to City of London patrons and volunteers.

Golf Cart Attendant

In this position, you will be responsible for preparing the carts to go out on one of the City’s golf courses. Once they are used, you will clean and charge them for their next use. Minimum G2 license is required.

Golf Pro Shop Attendant

In this role, you will assist with checking in golfers and directing them when to tee off. Primary duties include cash handling, inventory control, assisting with league and tournaments as well as ensuring all golf course rules are adhered too. Pro shop attendant staff must have or be willing to obtain Smart Serve certification.

Golf Food Services Attendant

In this position, you will perform duties related to the service of hot food, beverages and snacks in any of the on-site concession locations at one of the City’s Golf Courses or Storybook Gardens. Primary duties include food preparation, cooking, cash handling, cleaning, inventory and stocking. Food services staff must have or be willing to obtain Safe Food Handling and Smart Serve certification.

Event Attendant

In this part-time role, you will be responsible for assisting organizers of special events, neighbourhood events and movie nights at various parks and facilities across London. Duties will include setup, take down, and operating event equipment, controlling access as well as keeping facilities like the Victoria Park bandshell clean and tidy. Event attendants work with other City of London departments to ensure events in parks are well supported and operational during the events season. This role primarily works on weekends and evenings.

Storybook Gardens Attractions Staff

In this position, you will inspect and safely operate the various amusement attractions, including the carousel, train, jumping pillow, splash pad, tower slide and additional rental attractions. This role requires a focus on safety and confidence in enforcing policies and procedures. 

Storybook Gardens Entertainment Staff

In this position, you will provide a variety of entertainment and interactions with park visitors, both on stage and during “street” level performances. Entertainment opportunities may include singing and dancing in small musical productions, puppetry, and costume and mascot appearances. Applicants should have previous experience and/or training in some or all of the disciplines mentioned above.

Storybook Gardens Programming and Special Events Staff

In this position, you will facilitate and supervise special event or drop-off programs at Storybook Gardens. You will also provide supervision and activity leadership at various play features around the park. Experience with creative programming, child supervision and events are considered an asset for this role. This position requires evening and weekend availability.

Information Sharing
 

Adult/Older Adult Recreation Program Instructor

In this position, you will be responsible for leading a high-quality adult/older adult recreation program at specific site locations throughout London, including programs in Art, Sports, Dance, Cooking or General Interest. Other job duties include maintaining daily records, demonstrating excellent customer service skills and a positive and professional attitude and ensuring all City of London policies and practices are being followed.

Cashier

In this role, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service to Londoners, collection and accountability for all point-of-sale transactions, ensuring all cash handling is done in an accurate manner, answering the phone in a professional and courteous manner, being knowledgeable about programs at a City facility and ensuring that the front desk is clean.

Child/Youth Recreation Program Instructor

In this position, you will be responsible for leading a high-quality child/youth recreation program at specific site locations throughout London, including programs in Art, Sports, Dance, Cooking or General Interest. Other job duties include maintaining daily records, demonstrating excellent customer service skills and a positive and professional attitude and ensuring all City of London policies and practices are being followed.

Community Connector

Community Connectors help improve outreach and engagement efforts with communities historically underrepresented in the civic process and decisions that impact their community. This casual position works as part of a team in the community and supports the development and implementation of the Neighbourhood Decision Making program and other projects across the City of London.

Storybook Gardens Facility Coordinator

In this position, you will assist with coordinating activities at Storybook Gardens while working as part of a team in a public facing, fast paced environment. Responsible for opening and closing the facility, ensuring the safety and security of employees and visitors, acting as a liaison between front line employees and providing excellent customer service to City of London patrons.

Public Skating Attendant

In this position, you will supervise the ice surface at a City arena by skating along with the public, enforce rules and regulations, and effectively patrol public skating with an emphasis on the safety of the patrons. You will also provide basic first aid; file injury reports; conduct ice repairs; and clean the viewing areas, rink ends and players benches during and after all skating sessions.
