Bulk Water Station Services

Since 2000, users of London's bulk water dispensing stations have enjoyed
the convenience of a "Smart Card" system. Purchased at City Hall, the
card's electronic chip records the amount of money placed "on account."
Bulk water cards can be purchased for $30, and card owners can put
additional money into their account whenever necessary, paying by cash,
debit card or cheque at the Environmental Programs and Customer Relations
Division, 8th Floor, City Hall, 300 Dufferin Avenue; 519-661-2500 ext. 8413. The
current bulk water rate (January 2011) is $2.48 per 1,000 Litres (1 cubic
meter).
When water is obtained at any of the City of London's seven (7)
bulk water stations
(PDF), the date, time and the amount of water dispensed are recorded and
displayed on the station. The Smart Card records the amount of money
remaining on account.
Operating instructions are posted at each station. The customer will connect
to the 2-½” male Kamlok® hose connection, insert the Smart Card, enter the
amount of water desired and press the start button. The system will dispense
the preset volume and shut off automatically. During the fill cycle, the
volume dispensed will be displayed and upon completion the balance remaining
on the card will be displayed.
