Canada Day

Canada Day community celebrations come in all shapes and sizes. The biggest crowd draw are the civic festivities that take place at the Forks of the Thames. And, for those who would like to see the stunning fireworks display from a great viewing location, the elegant buffet dinner held July 1 on the lawns of  Eldon House is just the ticket.

The younger crowd also can enjoy kid-related July 1 festivities at venues such as Storybook Gardens and the London Regional Children's Museum.

And, for those who like a more traditional perspective, Fanshawe Pioneer Village offers the opportunity to re-live the past and discover the events surrounding the first Dominion Day. Historical debates, patriotic speeches and vintage baseball are a few of the activities that bring to life the occasion of Canada became a self-governing colony within the British Empire in 1867.Local celebrations are staged by various neighbourhood and community groups in London and nearby towns. Sites such as London Celebrates Canada and Tourism London's Events Calendar have listings of the many ways you can celebrate Canada's birthday.
