Setting the strategic direction for
London's Urban Forest Master Plan

At its June 21 meeting, the Environment And Transportation Committee received an update on the City's urban forestry strategy which included the draft report Our Forests Your Trees in Support of London’s Green Infrastructure.  This report highlights some key findings and recommendations of the study conducted using the Urban Forest Effects Model (UFORE). Designed by the United States Department of Agriculture, Forest Service, the UFORE model is a standardized method for scientifically analyzing the structure, air quality, climate change and energy-saving benefits of urban trees and their economic value.

The City's UFORE project involved the participation of approximately 298 residents and businesses and the analysis information generated  provides general direction for the development of a master plan to strategically manage our community's urban tree resources.
