Long Range Planning
The
London 2030 Transportation Master Plan study is underway. This exciting new initiative will study every form of
transportation we currently have, determine what's good and what could be
improved, and explore more sustainable types of transportation. The City of
London and our consulting team from AECOM are leading this study which will
continue until mid-2011. The end result will be a "London 2030 Transportation
Master Plan," or as you will come to know it, "Smart Moves." This 'plan' will
be used to guide the City of London in developing future transportation
systems. For more information about the project, Visit "Smart

The City of London finalized its
Long Term Transportation Corridor Study in September, 2001. The study's main purpose was to identify and protect roadway corridors required to address long term transportation needs.
Strategic solutions for the existing and future transportation needs within the City's 20 year planning horizon were then developed and implemented as policy in the
2004 Transportation Master Plan.

Veterans Memorial Parkway, Environmental Study, Official Plan and Zoning
Amendment
The City of London is proposing to identify the long term
intersection/interchange locations and needs along the entire length of the
Veterans Memorial Parkway (VMP), including a future extension of the VMP to
Wilton Grove Road. This study had identified locations where existing
intersections will need to be upgraded to interchanges/overpasses along with
their associated land needs for such interchanges. The Municipal Council is also
considering future amendments to the City's Official Plan and Zoning By-Law that
will assist in implementing the preferred functional design of the corridor at
build out.

The Ministry of Transportation and the City of London are jointly carrying
out a Class Environmental Assessment (EA) and Preliminary Design Study for the
reconfiguration and expansion of the Veterans Memorial Parkway interchange and the south
extension of Veterans Memorial Parkway from Highway 401, 1 km south to Wilton
Grove Road. This project was approved to proceed by a City of London Council
resolution dated April 5, 2011 in order to prepare for future development
opportunities in the area. McCormick Rankin Corporation (MRC) has been retained
to carry out the Class EA process for this study which includes public and
review agency consultation, an assessment and evaluation of alternatives for the
reconfiguration of the interchange and the extension of the parkway, and the
identification of the preferred design and measures to mitigate any potential
adverse effects.

Meadowlily Footbridge
Rehabilitation
A Bridge Assessment and Cultural Heritage Evaluation were undertaken by AECOM
in 2011. This work documented the bridge as having significant heritage value,
warranting rehabilitation in order to continue on as a community asset. As a
result, the City of London has retained AECOM to undertake a Schedule ?B?
Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) to address MEA requirements
for alterations to a structure found to have cultural heritage value. This work
will involve the identification of existing problems and opportunities, an
inventory of the natural, social and economic environments, identification,
evaluation and selection of a solution to address the structural deficiencies,
preparation of a Screening Report and consultation with agencies and members of
the public.
