Heat Alert: cooling centres open; some playground drop-in locations closed

 

Due to the heat alert, the following free Playground drop-in program sites will be closed on July 17 because they are NOT air conditioned:
- Byron Northview PS
- Murray Park
- Jean Vanier CS
- Wortley Road PS
- Arthur Ford PS
- Rick Hansen PS
- Victoria PS

The following free Playground drop-in program sites will be OPEN on July 17 because they ARE air conditioned:

Libraries


London Public Library locations are deemed cooling stations and everyone is welcome to cool off in any of the branches. Please call 519-661-4600 or check the London Public Library website for locations and hours.

Outdoor Pools


All outdoor pools for recreational swims. Check the website or call 519-661-5575 for the location closest to you.

Spray pads


Spray pads are open daily 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at 12 locations in the city:

Forks of Thames
Kiwanis
West Lions
Bonaventure
Jesse Davidson
South East Optimist
Oakridge
Ed Blake Park
Medway


The wading pool in Springbank Park is also open 1:30 pm to 6 pm.

Services for the homeless


Emergency shelters will be making special arrangements to provide cooling spaces and hydration. Outreach teams, including London CAReS will be extra vigilant to spot and assist individuals suffering in the heat.
